| "Fighter Pilot" 2004 documentary about a F16 pilot going to red flag training at Nellis with his aircrew, avail at Netflix for sure, I just ordered it, should be here tomorow, I'll post a review. Wash Post says most gut wrenching camera footage ever shown. |

| Been a long time, but didn't the movie "Red Flag" have some F-16 footage in it? I think it was from like 1982/83 timeframe. |

If I remember correctly, it was all F-4 Phantoms with F-5 Tiger IIs as the Aggressors. I distinctly remember the Aggressor commander was William Devane and he was acting like a total A-hole. Chewed out his female crew chief for his Tiger II not flying right in an engagement against his F-4 buddy/rival. He was just outflown that day, plain and simple. Turned out he bought it in a mid-air or augered in at the end of the flick.
Creep gave Aggressors a bad image, he deserved it. |

Yep, it was us "Tacos" from the NM ANG. Some fun flying the day we were filmed. |

| Why is everyone so obessed with realistic movies, you know how boring it would be! Yeah we all want realistic aspects, but you have ANY idea why you wont find any great movies? COST. The reason why Top- Gun never had a sequal was because of cost. Yeah in Iron Eagle the Model Planes should have had the correct weapon load outs, but besides that, was good movie. Blue Tornado was a decent jet movie came out in 91, featered the f-104 i think, and Tornado's mk,2. British film, but decent aerial shots. All and all, you will never see a top notch Flight Movie, one popularity, and two cost. |

Afraid not - though the extremely lame Iron Eagle 2 had a female Soviet pilot
Maybe Megan Fox can star in TG2 - I might go to see that then |

Two words... TOP. GUN.
Navy got Top Gun with all the F-14 screen time any fighter plane could possibly dream of. And what's the beautiful Air Force F-16 get? Goddam Iron Eagle, a Disney cartoon compared to Top Gun. May as well have slapped a smiley face on that F-16 model while they were at it. Pastel paints would be suiting as well.
The F-16 only seems to get its moments in side-clips of "look, we have fighter planes!" in otherwise unrelated movies. Yeah - the stereotypical designation of a "fighter plane" is an F-16, and yet it doesn't even have its own movie.
I can guararan-friggin-tee that if some big-wig in Hollywood would dump some money into creating an Air Force parallel to Top Gun, people would go see it. If it's not cheesy (a la Iron Eagle), and actually mostly authentic (a la Behind Enemy Lines - again a Navy movie), maybe we can stop bitching about the lack of balancing Air Force movies to Top Gun...

I'll watch anything with F-16s in it, however bad. This is OT so we'd better move it to the right place, sorry, difficult with the really tiny text. |
