| So from what i hear the USAF will start looking for bases for the F-35, and i was wondering what would you guys say the possibly of F-35s being stationed in Fort Smith AR? Because as a amateur Air Force buff living in Arkansas I don't get to see to many military aircraft (apart from C-130s and very rarely an A-10) so it'd be neat to have a F-35 base about 4 hours away. |

FS wasn't on the list of candidate bases recently released. They just got spun up with the A-10 and it'll be around for quite some time. Besides...the Flyin' Razorbacks and the Hog were made for each other. Maybe they'll get the F-35 several years down the road. Anything's possible. |

| As a matter of fact the F-35's will never replace all of the types (AV-8's, A-10's, F-15's, F-16's, etc. etc.) currently in service on a one for one bases. So, expect to see more Air Bases consolidated. Maybe into Joint Bases with the USN and USMC. Like Fort Worth JRB near Dallas, TX. |
