How long can an F-15 maintain top speed ,if it coasts up with tanks then hits A/B and once the tanks are depleted it drops them? The F-15 is also clean with no weapons.

maybe 2 minutes and it goes to vapors, it would still burn much of its internal fuel getting to Mach 2.5.

I doubt that I am sure ten minutes max at top speed is allowed, but the F-15 would not being returning to the same base it came from.

how much fuel does it take to go from mach 1 or mach 1.5 to mach 2.5, fuel tanks have limits on them.

Since I don't know much about the F-15, can it run in burner and transfer fuel from the externals fast enough to deplete them?
Thanks.

Yes it can but as I already stated in this forum, tanks and pylons have to be punched off to get to top speed. But max speed for this is Mach 1.5, nothing more! Now you are on internal fuel only. Even in ideal situation (clean, low temperature, 50000ft altitude), you will be left with only 7000-7500lbs fuel remaining when you hit the Mach 2.5 Mach. At this altitude both engines at full AB will eat more than 2100lbs/min(combined) of fuel. Now and I repeat it one last time the PW-220 have their own flight restrictions. That is 1min transient above Mach 2.3 ( TO 1F-15A-1, 5-Cool.

Thanks, baz.
Not really interested in speed, just curious if the fuel transfer rate from the externals was sufficient to match the fuel flow required for AB operation.
