Crew chiefs and ordnance guys, I would like to learn the whole process launching an aircraft, from pilot hitting the JFS switch until he rolls down the runway... I know bits and pieces here and there, once and for all, I'd like to find out what goes on during the launch. I watched one of our Apaches, once again, launch the other day, pilots come in, do a brief preflight, remove pins and covers, store 'em in the stowage bin, hop in, start up, they taxi backwards, pull out to the taxi route, hold short of the runway and take off from there without even rolling in the runway.

When you are sending a loaded viper into a training or combat sortie, as far as I know, pilots stop at a location before taxiing into the runway, where ordnance guys to some stuff, what is that place and what do they do??

EOR (End of Runway). There the crewchief just marshals the pilot in but the weapons guys are him up. Crewchiefs never touches munition pins. That's a big write-up. Hell, you're not even supposed to even put on a Aim-9 cover, which is gay.

Ok, say the aircraft is leaving from the flightline or shelter, there chief sends the aircraft out to EOR, and at EOR another chief marshalls it in? I vaguely remember a term for EOR, maybe "pool"?

Also "Last Chance", as it's the last chance to check the jet over and catch anything that may have been missed before it leaves.

No need to align targeting pods at EOR. They get all the help they need from the jet's avionics when you turn it on.

APG sends another crew chief(s) down to EOR and that's all they do on this particular launch. Weapons load takes care of all armament chores, before and after flight.

Are you being sarcastic? Mine was an on-topic post. I wasn't trying to answer every question, just sharing a resource that some might appreciate. If you were being sarcastic, you added nothing helpful to anyone.
