You'd think they would add some flare to the jet. It's probably the only fighter in the world that you could paint a tuxedo on and still have it go out there and complete 99.9% of missions with unaffected lethality. Come on USAF, be creative!
Can someone plz photo shop this for me so I can have some alone time with said picture? |

You can bet we will see some colorful USN F-35C's in the future. |

| Me too at first. It barely even qualifies as color, really. (and this coming from a guy who's favorite color is blue) |

| It's really just a different, bluer shade of gray. Like I said before it barely qualifies as "color". If it was just the way the photo looked, then the color would look different between the two vert. stabs. The fact that it looks blue on both means it IS blue. Just a very pale blue/gray. Really, the painted up planes look nice and all, but do you really want the enemy to see you from that much farther away? Granted you can get away with it using stealth, but still, I like the way the Raptor's painted. It's no bull, all business. |

| There is a blue gray Fed. Standard color that it might be (I'm a scale model builder) to represent the blue tail flash and it wouldn't be any more vis. than the other colors. It was used on the old Hornet scheme for the nose anti-glare panel and on the lo-viz VF-2 Tomcats to represent the blue in the R.W.& B. stripes. edit-- color may be FS35237 |

Hmmm.. Desert Storm and Kosovo had F-15s in compass grey with several with colored bands shooting down MiGs and Mirages... I don't think a little color makes a difference.
Navy F-4s during the later half of the Vietnam War shotdown MiGs in full color.
The Ferris study also indicated at certain distance ALL jets become one color.. BLACK!
The F-117s ended up with colored bands as well! |

| Plus, the fact that some bright colors could be easily painted over in Conflict or War. |
