Little known Factoid.....
The F-35A still retains the space in the nose for the drogue boom if they ever wanted to retrofit it back in.

That's good for export sales or if the Air Force ever realized that boom refueling of fighters is a waste. The boom can transfer to large aircraft at a higher rate, but for fighters its pretty similar whether boom or probe and drouge. The probe and drouge system can refuel multiple aircraft at once.

A small item. The press release says a J model. That is not a J model 130...

Thanks for sharing ELP! great pic and thanks for sharing. How is Aussie these days? Almost had a chance to go once, but food relief missions to Somalia cancelled that. Not that I am complaining. God forbid we can't help those in need.

Yep, that's a T. LockMart was either probably trying to get some advertising in or J-model 473 couldn't make the hop and VX-20 put up good ole 627 instead.

Blur your eyes a bit on the photo.... If the USAF doesn't get its act together with recapping old tankers, that could be an all USAF photo in the year 2020.... After a catastrophic failure grounding of our KC-135s.... |
