Vikings all the way bro ... along with our secret weapon that sports #4
I think if our front line can protect Favre and Adrian doesn't get hurt, we may go all the way! EJ Henderson is back so look for some bone crushing hits on defense. |

There's only TWO games I wanna see the Vikes win....against Green Bay...yes....I want the Vikings to beat my team....but only to PROVE to the ENTIRE WORLD that TED THOMPSON is the biggest ID10T this side of Detroit for screwing Brett.
The Vikes--sad to say--have a legit chance of making it to the Playoffs, but I don't see them being a contender for the Super Bowl. Brett gets burned out, not to mention, he doesn't have the read of his receivers yet, and even with AP, the opposing defenses will figure him out sometime during the season.
The NFC Nort should come down to the Vikes and Pack--the Lions STILL SUCK, and Da Bears have been de-clawed with the loss of Urlacher, in the end, just going off of the little I've seen this far, I think the Packers'll win the division by a half game.
As for my Super Bowl pick: this year I think it'll be the Steelers and the Giants with the Giants repeating.
Purple....the Cowboys will be good....as long as Romo stays on the sidelines during the Playoffs... |

I’m sensing Bret favors Percy Harvin as a receiver … Percy is a Chris Carter replacement with blazing speed. (When we lost Chris, we sucked) Once Bret and the rest of the receiver corps “Get Tone” they will be devastating!
I think defenses have AP figured out already … DON’T MISS A TACKLE! Chester Taylor is a real good runner as well!
The Pack and the Vikes are a long standing rivalry … should be added as the 3rd Thanksgiving game annually (are you listening NFL?)
I have a feeling that this year is going to be phenomenal!
Good luck Sunday everybody … the greatest game on Earth kicks off week 2! |

Of course not as long lasting as the Packers-Bears, but I don't think it should be a Thanksgiving Day game, the Cowboys and the Lions have a good tradition going--though I think the AFC should have two Thanksgiving games: the Patriots should have one, and the Chiefs the other.
But I gotta disagree with ya, I think the two greatest games this year will be our two faceoffs. But for probably the only time I won't be vehemently anti-Vike....I might even go out and get a Helga Hat and wear that when #4 takes the field, but once we get the ball back, the horns go away and the cheese goes back on. |

Patriots: Bandwagon. They'll eventually fade, just like the 49ers and Cowboys did. My prediction is within 5 years...
Chiefs: What have they done since oh...the 12th of NEVER? There's already one team that wastes their Thanksgiving TV time by sucking every year.
...or is this some sort of New England pilgrim and Native American thing? Clever, but even so, one team is staring down the barrell of the end of a dynasty, and the other is a perennial Also-Ran.
Detroit needs to keep their game, simply out of tradition. Besides, it's the one I'm actually watching during my Thanksgiving dinner. The Jerry Jones "I Love Me" Bowl, like every other Dallas game, is simply a waste of my time.
At least IF I do watch it this year, I can look forward to not seeing the equally nausea-inducing Terrell Owens and Jessica Simpson on my TV. |

That's what I was thinking. I don't think it's fair that the two teams that host Turkey-Day games are NFC.
I don't think the Pats are on the downslide yet, sure their D has suffered some, but Brady's still potent as long as he stays healthy. Last year was a major fluke losing him. He seems to be rebounding if Week 1 holds up.

I'm not saying the two NFC teams should not play, but the AFC should be given the same number of games. Heck, use the flex scheduling to put contenders on Turkey Day, but treat the conferences as equals. |

Actually the '98 Thanksgiving day game between Dallas and the Vikes was one of my all time favorites!
We choked that year as well

....and the year after....and the year after that......there seems to be a PATTERN there....
I've always liked the games when the Packers and Cowboys went at it, but once Aikman retired, it lost its luster.
But my favorites for all time was the Battle of the Bays Mudfest in the playoffs and the Hasselbeck "We want the ball, we're gonna score" overtime playoff game against the Seagulls.....well he kept his word....he scored! |

Ya, they say the Vikings are cursed!
Ya, at least you're not blaming the Vikes futility on some goat like some other team....just be honest, the Vikes can't put all the pieces together at the same time.....it takes 53 players to make a winning Super Bowl team....nobody in the Vikes front office can count that high....hence they fall short.

Sure, they won the game, but most people don't care that they won, they care that the fool forgot what end zone was his! |

Well hell, that would make the Thanksgiving games no different than any other week of NFL viewership. Frankly, I get tired of watching the same 4 teams play every week.
At least when I watch the Detroit Thanksgiving game, I can watch a group of losers play, without hearing all of the "We'll crown 'em before they're actually champs" Super Bowl BS.
I guess it takes rooting for a perennial losing team to truly appreciate some fellow sub-par performers.
Oh well, my team finally earned their rings a few years ago. Maybe the Lions will do something too...within 50 years or so.
Raiders-Lions...now there's a Super Bowl I'd actually enjoy watching. Why?
1. It would be a ratings catastrophe for the NFL, and I love watching The Suits squirm and cringe.
2. The NFL Suits hate Al Davis.
3. The Patriots would be viewing the action from their living room sofas. Anytime they and their bandwagon fans lose, and I'm happy.
4. I wouldn't mind seeing either team win. The Raiders are probably my favorite AFC team (but not my overall favorite team, mind you). I have respect for the Lions. They're underdogs, and it's good to root for an underdog. |

Here's one that I've always wondered about...how come Favre's name is pronounced "F-A-R-V-E"???

How about that new stadium! Huge, loud, the biggest flatscreen I've ever seen, and dancers in Dallas Cowboy cheerleader outfits all over the various stadium levels!

After "What came first, the chicken or the egg?" this is the second most asked question in history, I'd bet
After some uber-fast Googlage (<<< Technical term), I have a few possibilities:
According to one site, a geneaology site, the pronunciation is actually supposed to be fa-va-RAY"
According to another, of all things a Jehovah's Witness board, it seems to be a corrupted pronunciation like Le Havre.
Yet another blames the Southern accent for the pronunciation change--two syllable words are compressed into one, whilst monosyllabic words are drawn out into two.

and now the favorite target for punters....I know if I was an opposing team punter, I'd probably sky one just to see how many LEDs I could knock out!!! Take that Jerry Jones!! |
