Hello all!
I just graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in genetics and a 3.82 GPA, obtained a position as a lab technician, and I've realized, to my intense dismay, that I really don't like doing research.
I'm going to get my private pilot's license this fall, once I save up a little cash. I think I'll like it. I've always wanted to fly, since I was a little kid (well, I actually wanted to be an astronaut, but...), and I was wondering what the requirements are to get accepted as a USAF or USN pilot. I'm 21 years old, 5'9", 180 lbs, pretty good shape physically, but I wear glasses (I think my prescription is something like -1.5 diopters). I'm told this is not disqualifying because I can get PRK done (I understand that LASIK is disqualifying, though).
I'm going to decide whether or not this is what I want to do after I get my private license this fall, but I was wondering if anyone could advise me how I should go about this? I was just going to go to the local recruitment office and ask, but I'm actually in Taiwan for the next couple weeks, so I figured I might as well ask here.
Thanks for any advice! |
