I cannot believe what I heard my uncle just say! He used to be a mechanic on the F-15 and he said the F-22 is a piece of junk! He told me the F-22 cannot carry external fuel tanks, the multiple pics are faked (here and here and here and statements about it are false).. The ram is always cracking and falling off, and rain ruins stealthiness. He says air force should have bought F-15SE Silent Eagle. Also he says the F-15 is equal to ef2000 Eurofighter, I thought ef2000 was twice as good as F-15C. He also says it cannot fly in thunderstorms. If I can remember what else he said I will post it. |

| Interesting first post to say the least. I am pretty sure the sky is falling as well. It's interesting that your uncle just told you this, and then you just happened to come along this forum to share his insights on the matter. Please give him my best as I shall be in bed wakeless yearning for such insight on the matter. HEAVY sarcasm intended. |

| Yeah, your uncle may know how to replace Widget C on an F-15, but that doesn't mean he knows everything about fighters, sorry. |

I can't add to the sarcasm since that has already been addressed. Your uncle should
be praised for his service in a hard working and sometimes thankless profession.
However, experience as an F-15 maintainer doesn't qualify him to be credible in
his claims listed in the first post. He's more than welcome to his opinion but don't
expect the AF fighter community to be turned upside down because of it. |

Interesting pictures. Interesting claims.
I don't think the pictures are fake. I am curious as to why F-22's would intercept Bears with drop tanks. My guess is that those Russian planes are packed full of sophisticated gadgetry designed to find out as much as possible about the F-22 and perhaps its RCS. Adding the drop tanks probably makes it pretty hard to figure that out. It could be to fool the Russians on the Raptor's combat radius as well. What do yall think? |
