The reports that he is alive is incorrect. Named as Squadron Leader Saud.

The aircraft was F-16A from No. 9 Squadron and pilot was S/L Saud who was flying a routine night strike sortie. Since PAF have excellent flight safety record for the F-16 aircraft.

May Allah rest his soul in peace, ameen!

The aircraft was F-16A; pilot was Squadron Leader Saud who was flying a routine night strike sortie. Aircraft was declared overdue as it did not recover back at the time it was supposed to. Later on wreckage was found close to Nurpur with pilot still strapped to seat. S/L Saud received fatal injuries due to impact ….God bless his soul and he may RIP.This crash brings total PAFs F-16 losses to 9. Last viper to go down was in 1994 when it suffered a bird hit just after take off and the pilot ejected.

It is speculated that plane crashed due to controlled flight into the terrain as the pilot did not even try to eject and was strapped to seat when it crashed.PAF investigation is under way.It was a night sortie.9 F-16 took off last night for training sortie at 10 PM and then S/L Saud plane took off at 10:30 PM..all 9 F-16 returned at 11:20...but S/L Saud did not return. Sad....
