thanks curries103 and the steering actuator blocks the relative movement between the two collars during retraction doesn't it?
No, the NWS actuator does not restrict movement of the noe gear during retraction. As the aircraft comes light and the nose gear extends the centering cams on the internal part of the inner piston engage and straighten the nose gear forward. Then as the retract actuator draws the gear up, the strut attached at the collar by the NLG drag brace rotates 90 degrees to stow in the wheel well. |

peter your work looks so great congratulation! i've never seen an f16 in real life. i am working with pictures and drawing, by the way where do you get the original drawing of section of the f16? i just have the drawing above. the same is with the landing gear only with pictures i dont have the original drawings sorry and the design was for trial and error. do you want the dimensions of links and connection that swivel the wheel when the mlg retract?
greets,
pablo |

Hello Pablo,
A friend of mine had the same drawings that you have and we have made a big drawing of it and printed it out. Step by step I am getting there. Hope that I can fly next summer.
If I can get the dimensions of links and connection I would be very pleased.
Grts, Peter |

peter, the dimension of link and connection is matched with the strut and drag brace dimension that i got by trial and error. possibly you must change the dimensions of this links for your design. what kind of extension do you use to import files in inventor?
greets,
pablo |

Hi Pablo, I think that I am getting there, made a assembly of the parts I have and still changing the axle which is attached on the little arm and wheel axle. It will take me a copple of days to figure it out.
The files I use are CAD files, Inventor can read dwg, IGES, STEP, XML files.
Its a big challenge such a project. When are you starting to build?
Greetings,
Peter |

Tryd to open the file but Inv. got stuck. it can read also Solidworks prt, sldprt, asm. Perhaps this is a possibillity?

Hi Pablo, finally I have succeeded in composing a working gear. Still have to work out the details of the parts but that will be no problem.

kiabowie,
Might you have the Inventor model available? I'd love to play with it a bit. |

Hi pquispea_m5,
The part in the circle is the steering actuator for the nose wheel.
If you look close above the actuator you can see the hydraulic lines to the actuator.
I will look in my F16 manulas if i have a better pic of it.
