salute

some of you newbies explain how the stuff works today.

the early ones used hydraulics to retract and to close the doors. seems like they also used hydraulics to open the doors.

the mains 'fell out' due to gravity. so the air bottle was only required to get the nose gear down, and the emergency cable on that apple at the end of the landing gear handle just unlocked the main doors.

so the day i had all the ice crystals in the tiny orifii, i had nose gear down and one main. i didn't wanna use the airbottle, 'cause i wanted the nose wheel steering.

lit the burner at two hundred a fifty knots and yanked. maybe three or four gees.

the pesky main popped down and i landed a minute later.

at eor i had a big hydraulic leak as i had blown many seals, heh heh.

we could tow the sucker back versus ejecting, as landing in that configuration was not recommended.

we had one with no nose gear and it was not a big deal. never saw one with nose gear only.

i don't understand how in the video the gear extends with the jet upside down.

gums sends ....

In the What is this photo. That is the nose wheel steering actuator. Moves the nose wheel 30 degrees left or right of center. It's powered by the B-system hydraulics

thanks curries103 and the steering actuator blocks the relative movement between the two collars during retraction doesn't it?

the specification of the shock strut for the main landing gear indicate the stroke is 10.5 inch (267mm) but viewing the scaled picture below, the camera of shock strut seems more shorter than the stroke. how it explain? thanks

It may be that the 10.5 inch stroke you mention is wheel motion, not shock strut stroke. They are quite different.

Yes, that is exactly my meaning. In the General Data table, Landing Gear Stroke =10.5 in. is the wheel motion, not the shock strut stroke.

Hello pquispea, I am building at this moment also a scale F16 1/5. I am also drawing the gear but don't have a good drawing of the wheel axle, can you help me further?
In which program are you drawing? Mine is Inventor. The jet looks great in the drawing, mine will be a big dual.

hi kiabowie i don´t understand you about wheel axle. do you refer the longitudinal position of the 3 wheels? i got that from the picture below. the model of the fuselage and the landing gear i made in rhino 4.0, the render in v-ray and the movement analisys in solidwork. my goal is build my custom f16 in detail like harl huf in his amazing su27 project. http://www.su27.de/

please show us part of your work.

My project is on:
http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/tur ... 1-5-a.html
http://www.modelbouwforum.nl/forums/vli ... p-5-a.html

WHat I am looking for are drawings of te parts that are attached to the wheel. It is very complex and the most importand for me is where the wheel is attached to.

When will yous be flying?
