I like the part in the article where he says his father was doing 2.2M in a Starfighter and the "slow" indicator came on!

God Bless

Doing [Link pending approval] in the Ziper and *climbing*, as the article [Link pending approval] but anyway, it was interesting to see that the AOI on the Hornet is Mach [Link pending approval] "I studied the AOIs (Aircraft Operating Instructions) to see the max speed limits. I found them to be about 735 Knots Indicated Airspeed, or Mach [Link pending approval], as long as the jet was above roughly 33,000 feet"

Which probably is where the jet actually desintegrates in midair.

I'm pretty sure its a takeoff flight profile to get the aircraft to altitude as quick as possible with the best use of energy but can't remember anything more specific. Google fails me too Sad

I looked at the one you linked Fiskerwad but I think google only puts it up bacuse the author of the article has Rutkowski as his surname, as do seemingly millions of others out there making googling the name/term so much more awkward. I tryed Rutkowski coupled with terms such as takeoff and flight profile, aeronautics etc etc but still got zilch. Funny, I've never seen google fail so hard as this.
If it helps I think its pretty similar to a "step climb" if that helps but i'm NO expert! Best wait for a someone who knows for sure before taking my word for it.

Ahh, thankyou so much!

Now knowing the correct spelIing of it I did a real quick google search just to flesh the post out with a link to a F-22 related article mentioning the maneuver and explaining in basic terms what it is. (In the "Flying Fast" part of it)

http://www.codeonemagazine.com/archives ... f22_1.html

Theres a whole other bunch of PDF files shown by google that are talking about it to but I haven't linked them as I haven't read them but they are probably more detailed.

FYI - the "SLOW" light comes on to tell you to slow down when some of the temps get a bit high in the Zipper Wink
