ptp, haven't you heard? The Constitution is a living breathing document that is long overdue for an overhaul. At least thats what a certain political party and thier propaganda wing would like us to believe. He wants everything rubber stamped. Remember the stimulus package? It's working out so well don't you think? Anyone with the slightest bit of common sense can see right through BO and his BS. All one has to do is follow the money trail. Who gave big during the campaign. The UAW was rewarded with contoling stake in Chrysler. The big banks are getting money by the truckload, with no oversight at all. No, checks and balances are really a hinderence to a good strong vibrant economy.

If you truly are a superpower, nobody else needs to be informed of that. In fact, just the opposite. "W" era BIG mistake.

Upgrades (they're called Amendments and require a pretty sizable buy-in) to the "living" relevant Constitution have given women the right to vote. So there's nothing else likely to pop up in the future that might make it more relevant?

I'd like to be stuck at about age 35 myself too.

Just pay off your credit cards. Sell something.

I know, I know, big dogs don't bark because they know they can rip your throat out easy, but the enemy seems to think they have Allah on their side, and to them that's a trump card. And we can't use our trump cards for fear of pi$$ing off their sympathizers.

Folks, I we have travelled a few time zones away from Celebrity Deaths, so I decided to split the topics. If you wish to continue your political discussion, then have a ball. Just keep your shots above the belt.

Heres a few quotes from that Jefferson guy someone emailed me today. Scary how true these are these days.

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.
A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.'

Whatever happened to folks like this. They are still around I guess, just certain people will see to thier destruction if they open their mouthes with a viewpoint that doesn't benefit Washington. Bang Head

Yes it is. Laughing

It is an oft-used Peter Griffin diversion, especially when he knows trouble is brewing, and he can't find another way out.

I always get a laugh when he does that. I still remember watching Hee Haw on Sat night. Probably saw that clip air when it was on the first time.

Presidential quotes are a double-edged sword.

Jefferson did not say:

Thomas Jefferson quotes (False):
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

nor did he say:

Thomas Jefferson quotes (False):
No free man shall ever be de-barred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain their right to keep and bear arms is as a last resort to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

Here's two he did say that all might be wise to heed:

Thomas Jefferson quotes:
When angry, count ten before you speak; if very angry, a hundred.

Thomas Jefferson quotes:
Error of opinion may be tolerated when reason is left free to combat it.

Jefferson was a great man in many ways and great leader. No argument.

Jefferson, though an abolitionist, was also a slave owner and considered blacks to be inferior.

Jefferson first proposed the Indian Removal program.

Whatever happened to folks like this?

Ok folks, I just had to nuke a couple of really bad posts. Not anyone starting WWIII, but posts that would probably be offensive to new folks, or casual observers. So, it's time to pull handles on this one.
