Hey this is kind of a dumb question but is there a lot of math involved in pilot training for the AF, Navy or Marine Corp? The reason being, I am horrible at math in school but the rest of my grades are good ([Link pending approval]+GPA in highschool so far, going to college soon so we will see then lol)... but I definitely have problems with math! I am on my way to getting my private pilots license and the math isn't too bad now, but its challenging for me at times and I know they really push you in the military-thats why im asking. Is there a lot of trig? I have heard rumors that the math is horrible there, and my fear is that if I do get selected for training, I may not make it that far because of that [Link pending approval]
My other question is should I try going for the USAFR or the Air National guard to learn to fly F-16s? Which one is easier to get into without having to know someone personally? (I know this question is asked a lot-sorry!!) Which one selects the most people? I'm guessing Air Nation Guard [Link pending approval] Well anyways any comments/input would be great-thanks  |

In any event, please read everything in that forum first. Chances are your question has already been answered. The pilots that frequent the forum are way cool and answer questions, just that most of those questions have already been asked. |

Taking those out of order, go for the Air Force Reserve FIRST. Going from the AFR to the NG is easy, but going from the NG to the Reserves is much tougher as I understand it.
You're going to need your math skills. Hit the books. If you can maintain a better than 3.0 GPA, you can hack the math withi enough practice. Work for it. It'll pay off.
Math is nothing but following clearly defined rules and referring to tables. You can learn it.
