I guess they don't want the F-22 making the French look bad at
their own show... Wink

Sure, why not. F-22 pilots must be bored by now grinding eagles, vipers and hornets into hamburger.. a little french pate would be a nice change to the Raptor's diet Laughing Laughing seriously, the more diverse the training opposition, the better.

The F-22 should show up anyway, undetected, for a fly by. What would be a greater selling point? If the bird could actually be sold.

No real need to display the Raptor at Paris. We're not selling the F-22 to anybody, so no potential customers would be there to see the Raptor fly. I've never been to the PAS, so, for example, I'm not sure whether we continued to send the A-10 after it was decided to end production with no FMS.

Wouldn't it nice to rub the Frogs nose in it a weee bit by having a 5 ship do a low level fly by with an Eagle on point flanked by 4 Raptors, and the only thing they see would be the Eagle ????

Once the F-35 goes into producton, you could use it to really make the Raptor work for its "food" in DACT, huh?

No, not a good idea. In the context of what the topic starter said, think why would that not be a good idea.

That would be a bit more challenging.. maybe they fly past each other no one being the wiser Smile you'd have to give the F-22 the edge though

BVR, yeah, because the F-22 has the lower RCS, the longer-ranged radar and supercruise.

WVR, I'm not so sure. Doesn't the Lightning's EO DAS target other aircraft via infrared imaging (not radar reflections or heat emanations)? That would make the Raptor just as susceptible to being targeted as other aircraft in the phone booth.

I know where my money would be on...I'm just going to say the F-22 with it's attributes would present more problems to the F-35 or any other fighter in any regime.
