Hello all,

I know some of it has been discussed before, but does anybody here know where the following Vipers are now??

87-0244 - ex-SI ANG.
87-0383
88-0152 - last F-16D Block-30 build for the USAF.

Greetings,

Henrik.

Well, something is wrong when You start answering Your own questions Wink Wink

Anyway, 87-0244 has found a new home in sunny Florida with the 93rd FS / 482nd FW at Homestead ARB, FL.

Greetings,

Henrik

I have 87-0383 and 88-0152 both l/n 09feb94 as leaving Ramstein (unmarked). Both have been reported afterwards with various units that make no sense to me -Block 42 units at Luke or Block 40 units at Hill- so I question those sightings, also because no pictures post-1994 have surfaced so far. Same goes for 86-0052 which I have l/n oct93 with 56FW/MC. Also this one has been reported afterwards every once in a while, but no proof for me so far. All three were reportedly stored with OO-ALC but I have no confirmed sightings there (Well, 'a' 383 was seen there in apr00).

HTH,
Joris

Thanks Joris,

Those are the same reports / sightings I have heard about!!

I believe that 86-0052 flew with the 466th FS / 419th FW AFRC at Hill AFB, UT and transferred to Edwards AFB, CA as the 419th lost its own arcraft during 2007 - and not the 93rd FS as listed in the data base.

The 93rd FS / 482nd FW at Homestead ARB, FL flies F-16Ds 86-0053 and 87-0367.

Greetings,

Henrik.

I recall reading somewhere that 88-0152 went to Eglin in 2000?

Regards

Mark

Thanks for confirming that Henrik.

Are there any Eglin based boys or girls on the site who can confirm that 88-0152 is still operating from there please?

Regards and thanks

Mark

Thanks Elliboom - sorry for this late answer - I don´t get any email notifications when a new entry has been posted in a topic?!?!

Anyway, when You say Hill, do You mean Hill Depot or Hill 388th FW?!?! Both two-seaters are "Big Inlet" Block-30 aircraft and I would be very surprised to see them in the 388th?!

Cheers,

Henrik.

87-0393 is at Hill - 87-0383 is reportedly at 457FS

I guess the reason 87-0383 has been reported at Hill, is that it once flew with the 466FS there.

Hi Niels,

Thanks for Your answer - that´s nearly just as weird as if they were in the 388th FW!! The 457th flies "Smal Inlet" Block-30s - now only one of two "active" units to do so - the other being the NJ ANG, and the 457th two-seaters should still be 85-1513 and 85-1571!! I really doubt the 457th is the unit in question.

Cheers,

Henrik.

I agree, Henrik, but that's what the database says. But if you look at 121FS, they fly small mouth 85-1509 while all single seaters are FY86/87big mouths, so not impossible?

Absolutely true, Niels - and definately more plausible than being in the 388th FW!!

Funny thins though, I have a lot of photos from the 457th from the 2006/2007 time-frame and no sight at all of 87-0383?!?!

Well, the database state that it transferred in to 457FS during June 2007 - that means that if you pics are from before this, you wouldn't have seen it. Also, usually it takes a while before Unit markings are applied, furthering the delay in showing the new Viper to the public.
