Does anyone have any words on this Defense Budget handed down by the DOD and the Obama Administration with 250 legacy fighter aircraft going away by end of 2010, CSARX program scrapped and many other programs? Yes they are getting rid of alot of pork, waste etc but I wonder on some of these decisions. Yes the F-16 is old and it's costing more and more to maintain. As a current ANG technician on the F-16 we should all be concerned on this new budget. My concern is where are they gonna get these 250 aircraft from we can all guess where cause the AD is not going to give up their fighter aircraft without a fight. Anyone have a read on this guess some of us will be seeing Predators or Reapers a little sooner than we thought cause no way F-35's will be down to the ANG/AFRES till years from now.

Yeah these next couple of years are going to be scary times for anyone who earns their living from the military. I think you will see alot of fighter ANG units either close completely or become AD associate units, there are simply not enough UAV's to go around, and not every unit is in close proxiity to an AD unit. I don't think it's exclusive to the fighter ranks, but I do think that's who is going to take a majority of the cuts this time around. My unit currently has tankers and I have 9 years until I hit 26 years in service which is when I plan to bail, and I serouisly doubt that we will have tankers for the rest of my career.

USAF operated Block 25 F-16’s have been projected to go away for awhile now … hopefully these are the F-16s they are talking about.

Seems like it was just yesterday when we got rid of our block 15's Sad

On a further note … I have the pleasure of not working Eagles anymore, and hopefully they are the majority of the 250 Very Happy
