Note the large smile. (Gun is safed. No live ammo allowed on the field unless cleared by station weaps, due to it being "home of AF1") |

Yah know... Aircraft Carriers... where you see photos of plane captains with chains around their neck from having to chain down jets. .... :::: failed attempt on my part in mock humor to imply.... :::The Navy Plane Captain went out to greet an A-10 with chains around his neck with the intent of chaining it down..... OK. I quit now. My fault. Sorry. Because you probably wore a lot of chains around you neck at sea, you can now say to me about my poor attempt at humor: "I pity da fool..."

lol. I thought you were referring to somethin different, nevermind. I was thinkin it was a joke or something.
First off, I, sadly enough, have never even seen a carrier, aside from TV and pics. secondly, we didnt chain him down, just chocked him, since he was leaving shortly after taking fuel (Andrews air force base is a fairly stable field  )
We usually only put 3 chains on the planes, when they stayed over night. We had a hurricane come through (floyd) so we used 6 to tie the few stranded planes down. the chains are rated at 10,000 lb test when properly installed. And trust me, they're a pain in the ****. The dude in your pic has probably 70-80 lbs worth of chains on him. |
