The chilean defence minister told yesterday, that the chilean air force (FACh), will receive 18 more F-16 MLUs from Holland. The first of 6 batches will be delivered by the end of this year. This falcons will replace the aging fleet of F-5 Tiger III+.
The transaction is $278 million dollars worth. |

| The last batch was M2 minus some advanced tactical systems, like HARM capability. So probably the same. |

6 batches?, (3 aircrafts by the end of this year?) can you share the source?

Note that the Netherlands denied that an agreement has been reached.
Minister of Defense Fransico Vidal also admitted today that the documents have yet to be signed. He reiterated however, that the purchase of the aircrafts is practically a done deal. |

| Also, keep in mind that these airframes are halfway through there service life. Without looking it up, I believe MLU airplanes have a life of 8,000 hours and the last batch were sold with approximately 3,500. That significantly lowers the cost per aircraft. |

It has been told that the tape should be M4. This explains the much higher costs of this second squadron. Harm capabillity shouldn´t be a problem now, because this technology already exists in the neighborhood. |
