| On paper, it seems that the ROKAF K model is the most capable Strike Eagle to date. Is it just me or is that the case, and if so why not us? |

Who wants to buy $100M F-15s when we can get F-22s that are 200% more capable for only 37% more?

First thought, the South Koreans could find the extra money to sink into the Slam Eagle, they probably realize that the F-22 won't be ever exported until it's nearly obsolete, and they still have a major headache across the DMZ; a crackpot dictator with a nuclear program, TBMs, a million-plus strong army, and a desire to rule the area now under the ROK flag is something that I'd imagine would get the ROK parliament to approve anything that they could get to defend their country.
As for the USAF not having the upgraded E's, with all likelihood that the F-22 will be able to do air-to-mud, I would surmise that the Air Force sees an upgrade to the existing Mudhens as something that isn't needed. They should still keep the plane--it has benefits of its own, but for first-strike the AF will probably go with the F-22. |

Actually, the F-15SG currently holds the title as the most advanced Strike Eagle in the world.
It all comes down to funding and priorities. In the USAF's eyes, ours are good enough at the moment. |

| Well the APG-63 AESA radar IS an option on the 'K' model and the 'K' carrys the AGM-84K and H which I don't think the SG does so give me a 'K' model with APG-63 radar and we'll call it even. |

I'd love to see a joint-development with somebody, some day. |

| I think the F-15's design has gone as far as it can go. |

| Guys, I did a little house cleaning here. Let's keep political discussions, and fantasy land out of the thread. The topic is the Mudhen. Let's stay focused here. |
