No, I am operating Windows XP 32 Bit. On my previous PC - it was a laptop and had constant crashes to desktop. So I even did not try to install Open Falcon on my new PC, a quite powerful to my mind - AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0 Ghz Black Edition, 4GB DDR2 RAM and XFX ATI RADEON HD 4870 X2 2GB GDDR5 graphics card - but grabbed a retail boxed F4:AF copy with printed manual inside, tuned the sim all the way up with Hitiles and Ayes cockpit set. I get 76.9-83.3 stable framerates, lowest about 37 - at busy airbases like Rimini on 1650 x 1050 32 Bit resolution and highest possible settings.

I looked through Global Falcon forum and found an interesting thread, where people tested HD 4870 X2 graphics card with Open Falcon and got choppy 15 FPS while F4:AF was running as described above.

Well, I have dual core Quad 2.8 Ghz pure intel on a MCI motherboard, 4gb DDR2 and a G-Force 8800 with 512mb DDR3. I must add, that I have set my resolution in the Falcon settings to 1024x768x32. Gives me a frame rate close to 60. Maybe that's why!?!

Greetings

For those willing to fly online like i am if you try OF and RV/FF5 it'almost certain you will have many problems. AF is the most stable offline or online.

Butcher -

I haven't flown F4.0 online for several years, although I still fly TE's from time to time - I don't think I'll ever get tired of this sim. In your opinion, what are currently the most active sites to go to to find other F4 fans for online play? I'm with you especially when it comes to online play when a local CTD can inconvenience other players - the most stable version is best (F4AF).

F4AF is indeed quite stable, but for a sales version a huge disappointment. It is not supported anymore by the publisher and therefore shares the same fate as the original F4. OF development has long been ceased by the original developers and the leaked beta has been supported by the Global Falcon team which has been disbanded in the meantime as well. OF 4.5 is quite stable, the newer versions are developed under a halfway coordinated user effort, but coded errors won't be removed at all. FF5 is still supported and a hotfix has just been released increasing its stability. There might be additional versions in the future from the RV and BMS teams but there isn't much which has been released about those up to date. In the end it comes down to your personal preferences.

Jetnerd: try OpenGalcon forums or Frugals World

Also, you can check the VFW I am in: www.firstfighterwing.com We've got members from all over the world including (ex) military pilots, people in training and military personel. Looking for immersion and flying online as real as it can get? Have a check...you won't be dissapointed.

@saintwarrior

I can even play Falcon4 AF on my laptop with nvidia 8400GS and 2GHz centrino. I agree that Falcon 4.0 gives good FPS and secondly when u r fighting u don't care much about terrain graphics, all u care is about the radar or concentration on HUD.

my question is that after installing HiTiles is going to affect my FPS. just Hities I mean.
