| Today I came across some pictures of US F-16s in Pak. The US pilots seem to be supporting the 34 FS "Rams" patch while the Pakistan AF pilots are from No. 7 Bandit Sqn (which is equipped with upgraded Mirage-IIIE's). Anyone has any additional info on when Rams were deployed to Pak for this training exercise? |

Hmmm... But sorry, Griffin! All of that is still questionable without any photo proof...
Here is one showing a RAM bird landing at the PAF base. |

| PAF Mirage-III also landing at the same base. Other than the Mirage-III there was also a PAF F-16 (No. 11 Sqn "Arrows") that participated. |

Hi,
Judging by the yellow fin stripe indicating a 4th FS aircraft (not 34th FS which has a red fin stripe), it may have been a joint venture of more Hill-stationed squadrons.
Regards,

I remember reading about a joint PAF/USAF exercise being held February/March 2006. Can these be photos from then?
If these are digital photos do you have date stamp for me to do some digging. |

| That is indeed at 4th FS "Fuujin" tailflash. Unfortunately Hill "Super Squadrons" the jets for all of its TDYs/Deployments now, or it did when I left there a little over a year ago, just the personnel from the assigned FS/AMU goes. So without seeing the patches on the people there you really can't say who it is. |

According to a private contact, six Hill Vipers are currently on their way back home from Pakistan. They arrived as Trend 81 at Sigonella on March 2nd, 2009, and should have routed to Lajes on March 5th, 2009.
Noted were:
88-0492 Block 40C 4th FS
88-0439 Block 40B (questionable!!!)
88-0497 Block 40D 34th FS
89-2119 Block 40G 34th FS
89-2124 Block 40G 34th FS
89-2125 Block 40G 34th FS |

Well, if the second turns out to be truly 88-0439, this means all former 27th FW aircraft have been accounted for! Would be great to see confirmation.

I dont get it and I have a few questions.
1- Which Paf airbase is it ??? I mean, it should be one of these since a Mirage is seen here ( I guess, if I am wrong, do tell me ):
Paf Minhas ( Kamra )
Paf Rafiqui ( Shorkot )
Paf Masroor ( Karachi )
2- Why were they here ??? Deployment ?? or any exercise or something ???? |

The DoD has run at least one roadshow for Pakistan on the Block 50/52. USAF sends jets and pilots, brief the PAF on capes, do some 'joint' flying, then go home. I expect that this is related.
I was told by a pilot who went on one such roadshow recently that it was a scary deal - lots of unfriendly locals, very little personal security, and at least one local opened up with AK at the C-5 that was carrying them home. |

The same six Vipers as noted above were logged by Leandro Rocha at Lajes on February 10th, 2009, during stopover on their way enroute to Pakistan. This evening, Leandro posted on the Scramble Message Board:
10/02/2009
F-16CG 88-0492/HL
F-16CG 88-0439/HL
F-16CG 88-0497/HL
F-16CG 89-2119/HL
F-16CG 89-2124/HL
F-16CG 89-2125/HL
And so, 88-0439 should be confirmed by a second source. |
