Hey, i know China has 7,000,000 military personnel and America has around 2,800,000 including reserves.
If we went to war with china, would we get air superiority?
I know china operates some Migs and have fighters of thier own but it seems like thier airforce is a weakness. Making it easy for US forces to take control of the skies, then focus on supporting the ground of usa troops from the overwhelming numbers of chinese troops.
America is Technologically superior, but China is huge in numbers. In world war two, russia beat the living hell out of germany with sheer numbers, yet germany had high technology.
So it shows you that numbers can make a huge toll on conflicts. But of course in a modern civilization; technology is becoming dominant in warfare as we all know. Since we are dumb enough to trade with china and conduct business there China's budget is growing, and most of it goes towards military.
It's obvious china is cooking something up, or they are growing to get ready for something. I bet if North Korea goes to war with South Korea, China would join in like they did in the Korean war.
Since china is obviously barbarous and trying to expand it's territory like russia did; we can't just let them keep taking more nations.
The Ironic part is: China attacked South mongolia overthrowing it's government. China promised Mongolia independance and autonomy; but then China sent troops in and killed thousands of innocents.
The Chinese military is called "People's Liberation Army"...
Why the f**k is it called liberation? It should be called "People's rape army".
I get worked up every time i hear how china is growing, and russia is slipping to communism. |

China v. USA in a war.
Let's see...Bunch of missiles go one way, and a bunch of missiles go the other way. They hit roughly around the same time. America still ends up with a smaller population than the Chinese, and the planet is destroyed by WWIII.
Any questions? |

It all depends on circumstances, like I've learned over the past week, over small things like North Korea or the ROC, it would be moronic to go nuclear, their goal would be to preserve the objective. Turning it into a parking lot would be unfeasable and practically insane. Now something other than a proxy war may have the opportunity to go beyond conventional weapons, but the Chinese Second Artillery Corps (their version of AF Strategic Command) has only around thirty ICBMs, we have that at least at Minot AFB.
PRC "could" vaporize a good portion of the US, but they would have a massive counterattack headed their way as soon as the first missiles left the silos. Like I got schooled on the General Forum, China has little interest in screwing with us. We are the still the biggest, baddest and downright meanest dog in this neighborhood, and while they may privately think they can take us, the truth is in the numbers...
Since Vietnam, the US has focused on technological over numerical superiority, with one hour's notice, the United States could turn any locale into a parking lot, and send the Marines in to paint the lines for the new parking lot in a few weeks.
Going immediately nuclear, in short, is insanity. The political leadership of the PRC is smart enough not to cross swords with us. Despite the unfortunate bombing of their embassy in '99 and the incident with the EP-3, the Chinese don't want to mix it up with us. They, like the Soviets, remain at least a generation behind us in all aspects of warfare. |

What, exactly is sane about any type of war (nuclear or conventional) against the Chinese? |

All i am saying is the future awaits, and with it utter destructive conflicts could result from that single thought.
China is growing in military strength, why wouldn't they attack us? Russia would most likely side with china, and so would north korea. They are in bed with each other. |

Throughout Human history, whenever a weapon is developed, the people in control have wanted to see what they can do, I'll give you that, but Hirshima and Nagasaki have gien the world a wake-up call.
In ten years, the PRC politicians are going to wake up and realize that Communism is not the way, but they will have to do it themselves.
In doing research of my own, I have come to the conclusion that the United States nor any other nation has really anything to fear from the Chinese, the PLA has a sad materiel state, and should a shooting war kick off, the Navy will be able to choke the PRC's oil supply, ACC will be able to flatten the remnants of the PRC's internal oil-production capacity and obliterate the war-fighting capacity of the PLAAF.
Should a war break out, expect complete air-superiority in favor of the United States inside two weeks. Our government has done wonders to make sure the Air Force is the most capable segment of our military. While the AF can't win a territorial war by itself, well over half the battle is accomplished with direct intervention from the USAF.
Russia is in to sad a shape to do anything but try and influence their former neighbors, and the DPRK has the ROK to worry about.
What's your interest, just curious? |

Because we have diplomatic relations with them, and they stand to gain nothing from it...and for whatever it's worth, we're both members of the UN. |
