hey, its 1700 somewhere!

Speaking of drinking songs, I was doing some research for my lit class, came across the original Defence of Fort McHenry--the poem that became the Star-Spangled Banner. I was kinda surprised at the origin of the tune it was set to:

Not that it was English in origin--I knew America the Beautiful has the same melody as God Save the Queen, but that it was an English Drinking Song called To Anacreon in Heaven--there's something to think about, hmm?

Ok, remind the class what that has to do with Jimmy Buffett?

I didn't mention Jimmy Buffet in my presentation, I was just doing haire brained research--I get like that sometimes.

I've gone from reading about Edgar Allan Poe to reading about how Edison invented the lightbulb. It all has to do with the way my brain works--don't ask, its a mystery of science.

it's fun, I enjoy learning new stuff, and you never know when some random fact may come in handy, I'm trying to get on Jeopardy!, so who knows, I 'could" end up a millionaire one day. Some of our greatest inventions were the brainchild of some whacko thinking random thoughts, not that I'm a whacko.

Just remember, there's a fine line between genius and insanity.

If you wind up on Jeopardy, just remember not to answer like this:

Technically he was right--I remember seeing it when it first aired, but my sound was not working. My computer is having problems like you wouldn't believe.

Ken Jennings was a genius, but I can beat his record imo--just have to stay away from Opera Singers and the Middle Ages.

While he would be correct in a room full of GIs, a men's locker room, or a bar; using language or terminology deemed "vulgar" by family tv standards is not an appropriate form of answer on Jeopardy.

Besides, the "Ho" he was referring to, is not spelled the same way as the gardening tool.

Uh...yeah, let us know how that works out for you there, Slappy. Laughing

Guess what? YOU WIN! You don't get a million, but you will get some classic "Celebrity Jeopardy!" quotes, which, IMHO are worth every penny of a million bucks. Laughing

"I'll take 'Famous T!tties' 500."
"That's TITLES, Mr. Connery!"
"Oh...Not a fan of the ladies are you, Trebek?"

"I noticed during the break you weren't sitting down, Trebek. What's the matter sweetheart? Did you have a date last night?"

"Good God, boy! I think you might be mentally retarded!"
"For once...Mr. Connery and I are in complete agreement"

"The Sound a Doggie Makes...Mr. Connery."
"Moo."
"I'm sorry, that's incorrect."
"Well, that's the sound your mother made last night!!!"
