Today, the biggest NATO air force exercise after Baltic independence in 1991 took place in the airspaces of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Totally 15 combat jets including Danish F-16A, USAFE F-15C and unknown Chech (probably Gripen) and Polish (probably F-16C) conducted air defence operations in Baltic airspace. Operation involved also mid-air refueling, using one tanker aircraft.
Baltic Air Polishing mission is currently carried by USAFE F-15C-s, the same squadron, which killed some Serbian MiG-29-s in 1999.
