Hello all.
I've flown A-10s in Osan and DM for a few years and am now in TPS. Flown the mighty Viper for only 15 hours so far...wonderful airframe but am still attached to my roots.
Love this website and will chime in when appropriate.
Cheers...

Welcome to the website Bandito.
Would love to hear more of your initial 'post-A-10' F-16 experience. Isn't it all going a tad to fast for you? |

Thanks for the welcome Lieven. This is the best tactical discussion site I've seen.
I've been flying a block 30/GE and am enjoying it a lot. I'm most impressed with the visibility and ergonomics. The airspeed meter does move much faster. I noticed the gas gauge moves quite a bit quicker too.
I wasn't sure what to expect with the fly-by-wire setup with very little stick movement but it is very well designed and the stick/rudder forces matched perfectly with what I thought was necessary (a credit to the design, not my intuition).
It's very easy to fly overall and is the first thing I've flown where the plane feels like an extension of yourself if that makes sense. A spare engine would be nice but the GE seems to run like a clock with plenty of redundancy (knock on wood).
Overall, it's an incredible airframe....probably why they built so many. A privilege to fly. It's hard to compare with the A-10.
Both aircraft are superior to each other in different aspects. Though I've never employed the Viper, I'm sure both do their intended mission very well. Apples and oranges. |

bandito,
Welcome aboard
I just have to say that you're one lucky SOB to fly both of those jets Here's hoping you have a great time in the F-16, even if the gun is a bit smaller
I take it you've heard of Dos Gringos ? |

Welcome aboard Bandito, I know you're gonna love the "Classy Chassis", but I too have ties to the Ol'Warthog, and understand the devotion. but anyway welcome to the Dark Side |

Salute!
Hey, man, glad to have a "real" pilot here. We need more, so spread the word.
Hope you contribute to the fray, and check out the threads on "other aircraft" to see what a few of us say about previous planes we've flown.
As with you, I came out of a short, ugly thing that couldn't go fast. No pointy nose, and couldn't turn nears as well as the Warthog. Didn't have that big gun, either.
As the senior Viper pilot on these forums, I welcome you.
It is really neat to see a third generation of folks flying the Viper. Who woulda thunk it?
