Hey guys, A while back I remember seeing a pic in Code One of a Thunderbird F-16 still in the red, white and blue, but carrying what I thought was a couple Mk-82's and some AIM-9's on the wingtips. For the life of me I can't find that pic. If you have one like it or one I am talking about, I would love to see it again.
Thanks! |

| Are you sure it wasn't a photo of one of the D models with travel pods on it. To arm an ambassador of the U.S. Air Force kinda sends the wrong message |

I have seen that before - back when the 474th was at Nellis. I did my F-16 FTD there and we did most of our training in the 430th FS. They got a bird back from T-Bird duty and before it could be re-painted, it flew a few training sorties.
Back then, T-birds were all 474th airframes and it was not unusual for a squadron to get "short notice" of swapping tails. When that happened, T-birds got priority - the bird, the paint barn etc.... Squadrons had to comply.
So I would say that "yes" it has happened in the past. Not sure how it all works now - that was back in the early 80's. |

Yeah, I am very certain it was actual ordance and not just travel a pod. I am not certain of the model because the pic was taken from underneath while the plane was flying.
Thanks guys! |
