Roscoe - Credit where it's due, I say I didn't realize the depth of your involvement in the B-2 program Just makes me that much more appreciative to have you around! About that jet, I've seen a couple fly, I'd love to see one on the ground, and I have to say that the big "paddle thingie" at the back of the center of the jet caught me off guard
About the max deflections - I don't have any problem with someone posting something in the public record. I'd also suggest looking for footage of a startup and taxi as they usually check for full and free deflection then |

Got it out of Jay Miller's F-22 book. (Anybody with an interest in the F-22 would be doing themselves a favor by getting that book. Loaded with interesting stuff you won't find on the net.)

| I'm obligated(by unyeilding personality traits) to point out that there is a difference between ripping on people and whining. I was ripping on the "it's probably classified people", not whining that the government was hiding things that they were showing us. You would do well to learn the difference, I mean, I thought it was pretty obvious. I had no interest in the maximum deflections, I just couldn't let people go trying to claim that they were classified, that's all. |

It WAS obvious. You got told no so you threw a tantrum. Multiple times. That's whining. You want the answer so damn bad go find it yourself instead of demanding it be spoon-fed to you. THAT'S known as "childishness". |

| I didn't want the answer. How about you go back and read a little bit, and work on your comprehension. |

Aub,
I don't know how much you've been around the F-22 program or the people in it. I've been around it and them a bit. Not much, mind you, but enough to get an idea of the way they run it which is very, very tight lipped.
To give you some idea of what I'm talking about, let me tell you about how it's treated at airshows here at Nellis. Yes things have changed and become quite a bit more open over the years. Back in 2004, they had one jet on static display and another that flew, but was parked a good quarter mile or more away from where civvies could get to. It was all the way on the other side of the hot pits at the south end of the area open to the public, but visible past those airplanes. Even so, they were very sure to make everyone aware that you were not supposed to photograph or take video of the Raptor that flew because of the concern that there might be "open panels" visible.
Things have gotten much better, but they still make sure it's not possible for Joe Sixpack to take any decent pictures of the back end of the jet while it's on the ground. I have my suspicions as to why this would be, but I'm just an enthusiast, so I don't know for sure.
Any time I've asked guys in the program questions, they guard thier answers carefully. Even if something isn't "secret" or "classified," it could still be "for official use only" or something similar. They, like most of us on this board, may not know for certain whether or not something is classified and so err on the side of caution.
Looking back on the posts in this thread, I don't see anyone saying that it's definitely classified, but just that it's likely to be classified and if they didn't give a reason for that belief, I will - so much on the jet still is classified and they care more about keeping secret what should be secret than knowing the answer.
You say you were ripping on them for this. You're new here, so I'm going to cut you a whole bunch of slack and give you my personal feeling on this based on my time here and my time spent with people who've been in programs that were only made public more than three decades after they were retired. You will earn very few friends by ripping on people who err on the side of caution when it comes to potentially classified info and you will likely annoy those who actually know something.
I would suggest that rather than continuing on with these past practices, you search for the info yourself and if you can't find it out in the public domain, refrain from complaining when someone refuses to provide it. You say that you didn't want the answer. I would suggest in that case that you stay out of the conversation and refrain from creating a disturbance which you clearly have done.

Sometimes it seems the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing there. I know when Miller's book came out there were some raised eyebrows at some of the photos in there though none specified which (but I have a pretty good guess). There are definitely a few odd features back there if you've got a good enough picture and are looking. |

LOL! Now ask yourself why anybody might have thought you were the one wanting the information. |

| I think I read somewhere the max deflections were on the order of plus-minus 35 degrees for the stabs. Not sure about the flaperons, or the ailerons for that matter. |
