Habu - I'll probably be sticking with homebrew antennas for lots of really good ($$$) reasons, but there may be a BIG antenna on a special bracket mounted to the HHR sometime in the future  One of these days I'd like to have a QSO with an astronaut on the way to work 
asiatrails - I wouldn't worry too much. CW isn't required for the license, but there's still plenty of spectrum where it's the only game in town so I don't think it's anywhere near dead |

I've never really played around with a HAM radio, but somewhere back home, I have a hand-held, White Trash Internet (CB) collecting dust. I only find it useful on trips, to find out from oncoming truckers the road info (i.e., road conditions, weather, cops, etc.).
Ok, I also use it when I'm illegally transporting cases of Coors back eastbound across the Mississippi River, and generally making life hell for Sherriff Buford T. Justice.  |
