I'll let some RAF Typhoon guys respond for me:

"Well, if you can see the bloody thing you have a chance... not a great chance but about the same as an F-15 or F-16 has against us. The problem is the AAMRAM is up your a$$ long before you can possibly see it. Quite discouraging 'do' at Nellis, really".

Would be nice to have some more info about that. Apparently the Typhoon was at Davis-Monthan for A-G trials and only flew strike missions. Were F-22s even present at that time? Or were those Typhoon pilots supposed to comment some other unspecified occasion of contact with the F-22?

Well I guess when you can't win at real war you can be excited about winning exercises. Way to go France!!!

According to my reaserch the f-22 would win in long range, but up close it has less manueverability and therefore would lose. but you can never really tell who would win without knowing the ability of the pilots.therefore my opinion is the euro fighter and the F-22 are equal, maybe F-22 a little better.

F-22 = A lot better.

Thrust vector + post-stall maneuvers = WIN

(Unless the pilot of said Raptor is asleep...)

I've seen the F-22 do it's manuevers in airshows. I've yet to see anything live or on video that demonstrates that any of the euro canards are more manueverable than the raptor. From the F/A-18F demos I've seen, it seems the SH is also more manueverable than the euro canards. The only other fighter that seems to be able to manuever as well or better would be a thrust vectored SU-27.

The only way the F-22 is going to get into a fight with you within visual range is if all missiles are expended and he has already lined up on your 6. It is an incredibly maneuverable airframe and the driver only needs to push it when he really wants to. The better answer; if he has missiles, you are dead well before you ever see him

Any aircraft is only as good as it's driver, I've seen ACMI video where the good old F4G Phantom waxed the F16C and F15C during a DACT training mission the Phantom driver at the time was a Vietnam veteran who knew how to make the jet tick.

Normally, I would agree with this statement, but.....The Red Flag and Northern Edge exercises had F-22 drivers up against aggressor F-15s and F-16s, which were flown mostly by veteran pilots. The aggressors couldn't see the raptor, which resulted in the high air to air "kills".
