What's up with the timer? I used to be able to log on here, and stay on for as long as I wanted. Now, everytime I turn around, it seems I've been kicked off again, due to some sort of time limiter. Can we go back to the old style of logging on?

Maybe it's the administrators way of saying get a life. But then who am I to talk, I just end up logging on about once an hour for most of the day. Smile

Hi guys,

when did you notice this for the first time? Some people seem to have this issue, others not. It's definitely not intentional, so sorry Smile

Also, what browsers are you using?

Is this also why suddenly you see the Sponsor messages in all the topics in all the forums? They never used to be there before, except when I wieved without beeing logged in?

I'm showing as being logged on, yet have been seeing sponsor posts too. That has randomly happened to me a couple of times, lasting about a day or so. Perhaps on approximately a quarter year basis?

Same here, I am not getting booted off but I see the sponsor messages everytime I look at the forums. Started happening about 2 weeks ago.

I started seeing the sponsor messages about 2 weeks ago as well. I started getting kicked off after a short period of being logged on at about the same time. It's been much worse, and much more frequent just this week. I've always used Internet Explorer as my browser, so I'm not doing anything different on my end.

I just wrote a very long, detailed post, with important information, and then, as I clicked SUBMIT, the screen popped up which asked for me to log in again. I lost the ENTIRE thing, due to some bug in the system. Basically, I just wasted 20 minutes of my life that I'll never get back, just to lose the post. What's up with the system?

TC,

I've seen a few similar complaints on the support site of our forum software, but hadn't yet experienced it on F-16.net.

There's no fix available yet, but there's a new release of the forum software in the works, which should be available "Soon" (Open Source software guys are always reluctant to set hard deadlines). This new release has a completely rewritten session management and should take care of these issues (which is why they're not fixing the current release).

I will of course upgrade as soon as the new software is available; in the mean time let me know if it happens again - maybe I can troubleshoot it.

One precaution you can take: when writing a long post, hit CTRL-A (select all) then CTRL-C (copy). If the submission fails, at least you can just CTRL-V (paste) it... (lousy work-around, I know).

I'll keep you posted on the software upgrade.

A thought, if you hit the Back button when you get that message, does it take you back to the posting page with the text you entered? Sometimes Firefox will remember that data and sometimes not. I haven't had that happen on this site (so far), so I'm not sure if that would work.
