Out of curiosity and without even wanting to break security protocol, I have a simple question.
In this day and age, do all tactical fixed wing aviators in all of our general aviation assets go through even rudimentary training for nuclear payload deployment? Would it really be necessary, even for guard aviation as well?
I just wonder, as this "alleged" F/A-18 pilot of "possible" past and/or present commision has spouted out lots of stuff on another Forum that I know of. He seems to be trying to ooh and awe a sizeable following of mostly younger Forumers into a form of fan following. Frankly this guy seems pretty full of himself and I'm sure you all would agree that posers and pretenders abound cyberspace.
Thanks in advance for any and all insight on this subject, as I have found this Forum to be pretty straightforward and honest- I have fully appreciated my original lurking and current/future participation on this site as a whole. |

Firing nuclear weapons is not something that has to be taught; it is instinctive that has been bred into us from eons of war mongering. There is some training but is not necessary in the military because it is a requirement of Webelos Cub Scout training which is a prerequisite for anyone that joins the military to be capable of detonating a nuke. That’s why the Webelos motto is mutual assured destruction. Our national security depends on every grunt and Webelo to have their hand on the nuclear trigger.

I think George C. Scott said it best in "Dr. Strangelove".
About the nuke human reliability program:
"You don't condemn a whole program just because one individual falls through the crack".
Same department.

I don’t think the question itself was inappropriate, however it is a very sensitive area.
I don’t know the answer for sure but I doubt that every Tom Dick and Harry goes through the training. I suspect the this type of information and training is compartmentalized in a fashion that very few individuals know the whole; as a security precaution. At least that’s the way. I think it should be.
In a vague sort of sarcastic way I think I answered your question in my original post. I was just trying to imply that I think this is close to inappropriate. IMAO |

No need to continue, I have the info I need now. If he is for real, then he has a VERY BIG mouth. It sounds more likely that he is indeed a poser, as I suspected all along.

I really don't think that is the issue any longer, so much as it is having fun with the topic. See they even placed New-Clear flash googles in this lil'fella. He obviouslly received proper training in the delivery of New-Clear weapons
Sorry I just can't resist having fun with this. |

On January 29, 1964, these words were uttered on the big screen:
Now, why don't you take it easy Group Captain, and please make me a drink of grain alcohol and rain water...
You are talking about mass murder General, not war. Mr. President, I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops. Depending on the breaks.
The string in my leg is gone.
Shoot! With a gun! That's what the bullets are for, you twit!
I don't give hoot n' hell how ya do it.
Well...shoo-ooot!!
Gentleman, you can't fight in here, this is the war room! |
