| Someone told me that O degrees of aspect is not the best for missile fire, even if the DLZ is between rmin2 and rmax2. Is this true? :?: |

Could it be because the missile could be easier to spoof, chaff/flare by a maneuvering target? I'm asuming you mean a rear quarter shot? Also I think I read somewhere that a doppler radar has problems staying locked to a target which is moving away on the same heading & speed if it's a long range missile you fired & its not pitbull , I don't know any of this, only what I've read. |

| Yes,maybe the target can avoid the missile with a fast maneuver while despencing flares. The problem seems not to be in the radar..The radar in ACM submodes is working perfectly. From the other side,im not talking about a long range shot, not complicated situations. Not BVR.I mean a shot with IR guidance, when you have the advantage or 0 degrees aspect..Maybe your reply is the wright. Thanks flounder22 |

That WOM used to be based on target maneuver potential. By having a little more range for the missile to fly (depending on what missile you're talking about), the target can't "break" and min-range the missile instantly. DLZ calculations have gotten much better over the last 5 years. Not much to do with radar or ircm.

| Cylon, I'm talking for AIM9P. You mean that missile needs some range to fly and maneuver? I think that this is the work of DLZ. When I'm talking for 0 degrees of aspect, I mean that and angle-off in the same degrees. Sorry,I forgot to tell it before.Flounder22, if enemy engages the ECM is unhelpfull for him. We are talking for IR guidance. The ECM is not for this use. Thank you all. |

Yes the missile needs room to fly, and turn to keep the target "in sight."
