That is something which the Meteor is supposed to do as well, but there is a difference. The Meteor uses a variable duct ramjet which burns for 30-120 seconds. Thrust is regulated according the needs and reserves are saved for the end game.

Always thought Meteor flew more of a cruise profile rather than a semi-ballistic trajectory.
