| Stuff like Colts/Patriots, Duke/N. Carolina? Anything like that go on between bases thinking they're the best? |

I've always heard the squadrons in Korea have a rivalry. I am sure rivalries exist between the squadrons located at the same base.
There are competitions held such as the AMC Rodeo, Bomb Comp. and Weapons load comps. to name a few that bring out rivalries. There used to be a competition for fighter units I think it was held at Eglin or Tyndall can't remember the name. But these rivalries are friendly in nature and generally help us keep our competitive edge.
Speaking for the 125th FS, I can't say we really have any rivals. |

Back in the Day:
Early to mid 80’s RAF Upper Heyford and Lakenheath was a good rival. (UK)
Back then USAFE bases played full contact football and we used to measure ourselves during ORI’s
Lakenheath played good football but we always smoked them during higher headquarters exercises. (ORI)
We used to do AMPLE GAINS (turn another bases jet) during exercises and we would ICT (Integrated Combat Turn) an F model from Lakenheath. We would have one of our E’s double stuffed in the corner of a 3rd generation shelter leaving the center open. Well when an F model showed up the crew did not want to taxi into the shelter with the E model (wings swept in corner) already in place so we could turn it?
I’ll always remember when an F- model showed up with the weapons tool pouch (and tools) still straddled across the MAU 12.
Plus we used to always kick their Butts during Loadeo/Sure-Fire (except 1986)
Also NATO TAC Eval = ORI |

| Espirit de corp on the flightline is not what it use to be, but maybe it will return with the re-org of maintenance back into the fighter squadrons. Last time I really seen anything resembling squadron rivalry was between the the 555th and 510th back in 03-05. And even then it was just trash talking at best. Weapons has their load comps everywhere you go but not everyone is really involved. |

| At Nellis it was a rivalry between Viper and Falcon(HOORAH! before we became gay ol' Tomahawk) the two F-16 units. Viper was the OT and Aggressor side and Falcon was the Weapons School but we were both F-16s and our AMUs were right next door to each other. There were minor things like stealing their pet snake(and accidentally killing it by leaving it in the expediter truck overnight) "painting" our monuments, tagging, stealing AGE, ladders, fire bottles(my personal fave), and other things. Couple of times things got physical which I thought was retarded but it was mostly friendly. Still you never had mixed crowds at bars and outings. Never. There was actually Viper Nests(Surf City) and Falcon Dwellings(Buffalo Wild Wings or BW3). Good times. Its starting to get like that now here at Elmendorf with the two Raptor units thinking one is lazier then the other. |

| Back around 2000 or maybe it was 2001 the 34th rams from hill went to cold lake canada for maple flag. we got into it with the agressor sqaudron from nellis. They had a russian KGB style flag that we stole from them. One day at the chow hall we busted it out waving it in their faces letting them know we stole their flag. Out of no where one of the agressor pilots bum rushed and tackled our guy to the ground football style and reclaimed their flag. They also stole our chief's hat because on the side of his hat he had "ram chief" embriodered into it. I later talked to a guy who was in the agressor squadron at the time and he said that they placed the hat in a trophy case in their block house. Another thing that was going on at that time was there were alot of sqaudrons dumping other squadron JFS bottles. Well it went to far when someone got the idea to dump the bottles on the sigapore sqaudrons jets. It turned into a big deal when the sigapore sqaudrons CC canceled flying for the day because of the sabatoge. I think some heads rolled for that one!!!! big "international incident" they were calling it....from then on the fun stopped because it was getting out of hand. but it was good times while it lasted |

On this page you find 6 links to stories of the rivalry between the 23rd "Devils" and 31st "Tigers" from the 10th Tactical Wing at Kleine Brogel, Belgium.
It's a shame the Devils were a victim of budget cuts, but the roar of the tiger still dominates the Belgian skies! |
