We've published an article about the offical USAF Thunderbirds Photographer.

Technical Sergeant Justin Pyle has one of the most coveted jobs for photographers in the US Air Force – he’s the senior photographer for the service’s Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds. Recently, he took the time to speak to Fence Check about his position.

Excellent job, Roger, with the TBirds Photographer interview.

Airborne photography is tough to get into in the Air Force, I certainly tried back when I enlisted in '87. I thought that I probably had a pretty reasonable chance with 7-8 years of aviation photography and a pretty good group of photo credits behind me at the time, but no luck - although there was a kid in my basic training flight that got a slot who claimed to have never picked up a camera before...

On the other hand I ended up as a Viper crew chief, and while I couldn't carry my Canon every day, I couldn't have had a better enlistment.

...of course the Canon still come out of the bag now and then...

Great interview! I'd never really put any thought into how they get all those great shots of the jets during the manuevers and in front of all those landmarks.
