Watch Video: F-16's Takeoff from Buckley AFB
Rare view as pair of jets roll down runway

BUCKLEY AFB, Colo. (MyFOXColorado.com) - Something you don't get to see very often happened on FOX 31 News Good Day Colorado Friday morning.
The air traffic control operators at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora granted permission to SkyFOX pilot Rob Marshall to take the helicopter into Buckley's restricted air space.
Rob was able to maneuver SkyFOX to the end of a runway and behind two F-16 Fighting Falcons.
Photojournalist Josh White pointed the camera on board SkyFOX, and was able to shoot video of the jets as they rolled down the runway and took off.
It happened LIVE during Good Day Colorado. You can watch the video and listen to Rob Marshall's comments by clicking on the video thumbnail at the right.

The video clip - really very rare from this perspective - shows the launch of a two-ship on May 2, 2008. At least in my eyes - one of the jets could be 87-0237. Anybody with sharp eyes who can verify both aircraft? And: Anybody who has a solution to archive this very nice clip?
And here´s the video clip (probably online only for a short time): http://www.myfoxcolorado.com/myfox/MyFo ... cale=EN-US

Mil power takeoffs at Buckley. Fighter aviation has come along way.
Real question is: No captive missiles, no bombs, nothing but rails & a centerline bag, were they headed for Friday night at the Club somewhere? |

The Vipers from Buckley do use burners all the time. I'd love to see video of a Sandbox departure from the air! |

| Its odd seeing them take off from that angle. I almost looks like they were floating. And the runway seems so short too. Good watch though. |

| Buckley does the sandbox normally to the south. I live out there and go out and see them sometimes. To the north is most of the city but southbound there isnt too much yet. Its sad because there is alot of construction and within a few years it will be surrounded. Im fairly sure theyd keep the 120th in CO because of NORAD and northern command but i think they are gonna have to move them sometime in the near future. |

Hey Outlaw,
They were in fact carrying captive rounds - the first aircraft had a CATM-9X on sta. 2 and the second a CATM-9M on sta. 9.
Greetings,
Henrik. |
