Are you having problems keeping people in the unit or are all these open positions because of a wave of Civil Service guys retiring after their 30 years are up?
Both, but mostly the first statement. I know, I left. I should be az2sdang.
Why is it yer having trouble keeping people there? |

To tell you the truth this unit is at that time were we will have a lot of jobs opening up do to people getting to the age of retirement. We are also the biggest ANG unit with 60+ aircraft. We are also one of the units that has more to offer then just F-16 stuff we have a couple of detachments. One being the Alert Detachment and the other being the predator. So people go and try new things once those jobs open up. We are also doing the LEAN thing and that is a lot of change from the "Old Days". So the old timers don’t like so much change. |

| I will throw in my two cents also. A Lot of the Active Duty stuff is trickling in. No notice DET inspections, ORI'ss, ORE's, LSET's, fitness testing. The new and newer versions of 21-101. No more logical thinking, have to stick with the books flaws etc... A Lot of the old guys were comfortable and then with all this a lot said "I am out of here" The first wave of FERS guys are now eligible to punch also. Honestly the unit is outstanding you just have to be cautious of where you work. Everyone in the Guard knows that a bad Sup can last for 20-25 years in some positions. Also we are way backwards from other units, our full time force is over 1000 with not so many weekenders anymore. Some shops have lost all weekend positions. Then just to ice the cake we compared ourselves to Luke and found we do way more with less and much much safer... A Lot of the WG-10's with 20 years experience get a little touchy when they find out a married SRA Active with 4 years makes about the same. |
