Went to watch the movie Iron Man (2008).

In one scene, in a hangar, a parked F-22 has the tail number "ED 01-006".
This tail number is probably real.

In another scene, the two F-22 in the air are too blurry, and can't spot their tail numbers.
(Anyone has a clear screen capture?)

BTW, the C-17 Leakmeister III at Edwards AFB also has the tail code "ED".
But just after the movie begins, the scene at Bagram AFB is too short, and missed the tail code on the C-17.
(Anyone has a clear screen capture?)

Although one of the protagonists is an USAF Colonel, his chest badge has a F/A-18 motif.

Reminder: the end credits seem to list/thank an USMC unit based at Edwards AFB?
Also, don't miss the epilogue after the end credits!
(I always stay in the cinema to view the end credits of movies I watch anyway, as respect for the movie staff.)

Maybe helicopter support from Marine Aircraft Group 46, Detachment Bravo,
4th Marine Aircraft Wing at Edwards?

"Gamera"(Anyone has a clear screen capture?)

Oh c'mon Gamera the movie's still in theater's! Doh I saw it last weekend and loved it, great special effects and very true to the comic which I adored as a kid. One quote from the movie that sticks in my mind - Tony Stark "Technically the plane (F-22) hit ME!"

Back to your original question, no idea on the tail numbers I've never had a photographic memory (or even a very good memory now that I think about it)! SIGH! Shrug

] Oh c'mon Gamera the movie's still in theater's!

Seriously, maybe its official site, or the IMDB site, happens to have screen shots of the F-22?

] great special effects and very true to the comic which I adored as a kid.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the Iron Man comics, but I remember two things: Iron Man is as rich as, but not as crazy as, Batman (OK, different publishers). Also, Iron Man's weapons, such as his hand-mounted repulsors, have limited ammo or charges.
One minor complaint I've about the movie is, it doesn't state how many hours he took to fly from his home base to, eh, the theatre of operations.
(Don't want to spoil the geo details for the members who haven't watched it.)

] in the scene w/iron man and the F-22's, they are CG.

FYI, when I gawk at virtual military aircraft with nose or tail numbers, in games or movies, I wonder whether there are military aircraft with the same nose or tail numbers out here, in the real world?
For example, in the Iron Man world, maybe the USAF Colonel has a F/A-18 on his badge, because the YF-17 won the LWF contest, and the virtual USAF flew the F-17 instead of the F-16? 8D

I didn't notice the F/A-18 patch on the USAF WTF Colonel either Gamera (how many times did you watch the movie)? Wish my eyes were that good! Hope you didn't mind the teasing it was all meant in good fun. Whistle
I was going to rent/buy the DVD when it comes out to pick up details like this (and hopefully some behind the scenes extra) but now you've made me curious, maybe I'll catch it again this weekend....

No problemo, dude. Before '98, I'm used to flame-baiting and getting counter-flamed left, right, and centre, in the Usenet soc.culture.* newsgroups. 8D

] (how many times did you watch the movie)?

Once.

On second thought, in that scene, the motif on the badge on his chest is a top-view outline of a jet fighter with LERX, and I felt it was a F/A-18. Now, I can't exactly remember whether the tail end of that outline has one or two engines. . . 8(

So is this movie good enough to make the top 5?

I saw the movie twice. When he is walking down that sand dune and the helicopters fly over I thought they were looked Blackhawks w/o a refueling probe, but the next shot of them coming around to land, they were Pavehawks, with the big refueling probe. Did anyone else catch this? Maybe I'm seeing things.

This movie, like Transformers was a HUGE plug for the Air Force. Airmen in ABUs in a desert convoy? The Air Force letting them use real F-22s and Global Hawks for the static footage?? (They did by the way, they filmed at Edwards from late April to early May 07) Seems like great recruiting to me! They even gave an anti-UAV plug in there! Who needs Army strong commercials when you can have Ironman being viewed by millions?

*OFF-TOPIC ALERT*

WRT Pave This or Pave That, I only recently learnt PAVE LOW is acronym for Precision Avionics Vectoring Equipment LOW-level.
OTOH, I knew some of the old acronyms, like FROG and HAWK.
