I'm not a weapons guy, but don't you pull those pins/tags at the EOR?
I wouldn't want to see them taxi around the ramp without the safety pins installed!? |

| If your talking about the big red streamers on the Polish jet those are safety pins for the TER, not the same as the safety blocks on the bomb. You need to expand the picture and look closer for the BDU safety blocks. |

Thanks for clarifying this, (shoot, I need to zero my sights soon) but anyway, is it safe to go around with those "thingies" on, those tags should be removed before the jets goes anywhere under it's own power, right?.
What if one of it goes the wrong way...ooopsss, FOD on a new jet cost$$$ lot$$ of $$. (No Polish jokes allowed!) |

Unless the pin falls out, which is possible if something is wrong with it or not installed properly, then there is little danger. Even if it did the big red thing attached to it can be seen before the next jet passes by.
No you need to have them in place while taxing, better to find a loose bomb at EOR than have it fall off on the ramp.
Munitions Safety 101 minimal exposure to minimal people for minimal time.
Training and following Tech Data is the key to being safe. |
