Figuratively speaking , that is- no picture.
However, I just saw this posted on a Forum I help moderate. Your opinions and comments please?
Quote:
I just got this F-22 email from my grandfather, thought you might enjoy.
In Actual In-flight (simulated) Combat Operations against the F-15, two F/A-22's were able to operate without detection while it went Head to Head against 8 F-15's. The F/A-22's scored Missile Hits (Kills) against all the F-15 Aircraft and the F/A-22's were never Detected by either the F-15's or Ground Based Radar. Maj. Gen. Rick Lewis said: "The Raptor Operated Against All Adversaries with Virtual Impunity; Ground Based Systems Couldn't Engage and NO Adversary Aircraft Survived"!!!
F/A-22--America 's Most Advanced Fighter Aircraft for the 21st Century!!!!
They're a titanium and carbon fiber dagger. They're so advanced that if their on-board locator is switched off even our own satellites can lose track of them. They're the first military aircraft ever built that is equipped with a "black-out button". What that means is this. The best conditioned fighter pilots are capable of maintaining consciousness up to in the vicinity of 15+ G. The Raptor is capable of making 22+ G. turns. If some day an adversary builds a missile that is capable of catching up to one of these airplanes and a Raptor pilot sees that a strike is imminent, he hits the "b.o.b." and the airplane makes a virtual U-turn, leaving the missile to pass right on by.
They know that in the process he'll temporarily lose consciousness, so the Raptor then automatically
comes back to straight and level flight until he wakes back up.

Will have to stock the F-22 with plenty of sick bags!
22 Gee turns? Right. It is a pity then that some AIM`s can make 50G turns isn`t it?
If a Raptor pilot sees that a strike is imminent, he will do what every other pilot does..."Reach for the D-shaped handles".
Some good laughs there mate. |

I ragged him and the told him he had the dubious distinction of causing a whole Forum to "ROFL"!
He comes up with the most craziest things about anything and everything, believing they are true- don't worry though, I won't let him infect this Forum! |

| Oh god this reminds me of when some nice older gent at an airshow was telling everyone that the shiny metal hollow tube at the tip of the F-16 was a gun.....The man "knew" someone who knew someone in the AF and could NOT be swayed even by those accomanying the acftwho were in uniform. |

Kind of like at air shows what everybody claims those travel pods are... Hades bombs, napalm containers, nukes- you name it! |

| I've got the best story...AH-64D Longbow RADAR was described by a guy next to us to his family as: "Oh, thats a weight to counterbalance the helicopter...". No, I didn't correct him...tried that before...they usually don't want to hear it. Makes us laugh though... |

Standing jaw jackin' with a F-16 driver at an airshow a long while back.....had a drop tank on the center. Guy blunders up with wife and like 11 kids, and says "hey, is that the Hades bomb?"
Pilot says "yes sir, but we're not really supposed to talk about that, so....(puts his finger over his lips) shhhhh.
I'm about to have an apoplexy, but the guy says "please don't this is going to be the most fun I'll have all day" as the guy exclaims to family and anybody in earshot ALL about the Hades bomb and what it does, and how they used them when he was in Vietnam.....
I bet those guys have a million airshow stories.
My wife....then GF, got all the way up the intake on a brand new F-14D....with a lit cigarette once....can you imagine, no ropes? |

Yeah I heard that too. The 22 in F-22 is that it can do 22 G's.
Unknown to some... Assistant Sec Def Gordon England has seen the super secret decoder ring briefing and even though he was pushed out of the LM roadmap some years ago, still knows some things...
The reason he and others are pushing so hard for the F-35 is... yes you guessed it... it can do 35 Gs. |

When we put the F-117 on the air show circuit, we had a field day with some of the questions.
Q: How does it absorb the radar?
A: A hatch on top opens up and we suck it in. The crew chief drains it after flight.
Q: Is metal used in its construction?
A: No. We used 100% natural ingredients.
Q: Is that a real airplane?
A: No. That's just the box. The real airplane is inside.
Q: What are the four pointy things in the nose?
A: Photon torpedoes.
Q: What advanced electronics does the F-117 have?
A: The Blaupunkt CD player. |

The first air show I was at where there was an F-117 on static display, I heard a guy behind me explaining loudly to his buddy that they were "30-06" machine guns because every aircraft designated "F" has to have guns on it. |

I would have seized up from laughing too much if I had ever heard that at an air show- but you did just make me spray root beer from my nose!
My nose is really hurting now. |

I needed those laughs today!
Which brings us to another variation on that most important lesson:"You got 2 ears and 1 mouth. There is a reason for that!" |

One of the Sharpe movies, it goes on to say ...."the leader must listen twice as much as he talks"
Yep, listening to the civilians and the non sortie producers talk about aircraft makes me wonder what I was actually working on! |
