12 Kunsan based F-16s arrived at Kadena on March 10th.
They will stay for 3 months TDY.
It appears to be the squadron will participate in some kind of joint excercise in Okinawa area.
Japan based Marine Corps squadrons and USS Nimitz are in that area to participate in the exercise as well.
All the F-16s are from 35th.

Just wondering: before the F-16s and the earlier F-22s came to Okinawa Prefecture, did they receive a new anti-corrosion coating or paint?
(In the good old days, JASDF F-104s based in Okinawa were easy to spot, because they were painted grey, while other JASDF F-104s were metallic raw silver.)

I doubt it. Usually when any planes TDY to Kadena, they don't receive any anti-corrosion paint. They just "take shower"
All planes that goes to the ocean area mission, they are required to take one.
I never saw F-22s to take shower during their last visit to Kadena, not even on the media.
They might have had some kind of special anti-corrosion coating, but if they did, that might mess up their stealth ability...?
Anyway, there is no difference between Kadena F-15s and other F-15s in paint. So I guess they don't have any special paint and this applies to all plance TDY to Kadena.

Where do you guys come up with some of this stuff? First of all, "The ROK" is the Republic of Korea. Second, when have you ever seen jets washed like that outside of special occasions. You guys crack me up.
Jets on the "rock", not to be confused with the "ROK", go through the bird bath at the end of each flying day.

akruse21 I think we need to take him on an evening walk down BC Street. He will then understand the difference.

I never had the chance to hit Japan, but I was in Korea and know first hand they don't take a Shower at the end of anything. Being in Korea, which would be no less corrosive an environment than Japan, I would say it goes to reason they would or they don't need it at all cept for some pilots final flight or sumthin.

The TDY/Deployed jets go though the birdie bath as well.

Why is it the ROK or USAF Vipers do not do this as well then being the environment is just as corrosive on Korea as in Japan? I worked on Gulfstreams for awhile and the corrosion control on them is insane, much more extreme than a simple bath, and most of them are no where near the same type environment. While at Osan I never once remember conducting any kind of corrosion inspection outside of the norm, which considering the environment you would think you would do.

PITFU!!
Even see Raptor's get a wash like that from time to time down at Tyndall...its not as uncommon as you make it sound.

Its an infrastructure deal. If the base has the money and space to put one in then I'm sure they would be doing it.

Here is the S/N list of the Kunsan Vipers visiting Kadena.
None of them are wearing the aggressor paint.
12 planes are here but I only had chance to see 11.
8thFW Commnader Plane F-16CG 90-0703
Kadena is the largest base in Far East and is on the Okinawa island where is surrounded by the sea. The shower is big enough for KC-135s and P-3s to go through.
All current "WP" Vipers are Block-40s and the Block-30s were the ones to carry the aggressor schemes. They are now transferred to Eielson AFB; AK and the 18th AGRS.
