I would like to convert the 1/32 Hasegawa F-16A+/C into a Block 42 of the soon to be decomm'd 63rd Panthers @ Luke. It seems to be the best platform to start with. Any 1/32 decals out there that I could scrape together to build it?

As far as I can tell, the folowing mods need to be made to make a decent jet:

1. WAR HUD (any 1/32 scale out there?)
2. Landing lights to the front gear door
3. Larger main wheels and buldged gear doors
4. Airframe stiffeners (no luck with Orion models on these)
5. A decent Pratt exhaust (Hasegawa's exhaust is so-so)

The 63rd Block 42's has the NSI inlet so no problem there.

Anything obvious I've missed?

It doesn't have to be perfect!

I have already built the 63rd 1/48 Hasegawa 90-0778 D model (Mig-25 Kill), so the decals are out there in 1/48 scale.

That's pretty much it, except for the heavy weight gear issue. The Hasegawa kit only has the light weight gear structure. You could modify the main gear shock strut to trunion strut structure area and modify the drag brace for the mains. The nose gear is also beef up, mainly in the lower ringed area where the brass spacer is. Also, the torque links are significantly beefed up.

The Block 40’s on up have small bugles on the upper and lower wing root panels. You’ll need to add these if you really want to be accurate.

Also, check the time period of the Block 42 you are building. If it's early 90s, then it most likely did not have the TEC plating mod and also may of had the original Block 40 wheels.

Where do you plan to source your Block 50 (or 40) wheels, bulged gear doors, and HUD?

778 in the 63FS colors- I don't have that decal in the nosewheel well for sure-it could be made for the 1/32 scale. The only problem is converting the Academy C to a D model. Probably have to wait for the Tam kit and kit bash with the academy to make the Block 42.
