Seriously?I always thought that approximately means "round about". Noon, 1130, 1145... who cares. approximate--- key word. |

Thanks for the definition of the term "approximate"; I had no idea that's what it meant. The word "approximate" is not used in the news release at all, so I added that bit of info for some clarification for those that care (obviously you don't).
Sorry to ruin your day. That's why I don't post here. |

This was posted by the Arizona Republic this morning:
F-16 crash site located; search for pilot continues
Beth Duckett
The Arizona Republic
Mar. 15, 2008 11:26 AM
The search continues for the pilot of a F-16C fighter jet from Luke Air Force Base that crashed Fridaysouth of Alamo Lake.
Crews discovered the wreckage around 10:30 p.m. in a remote area of western Arizona. A "G-suit" and parachute was uncovered, but no pilot, said Mary Jo May, a Luke spokeswoman.
The parachute and some of the pilot's gear were found about 150 feet from the impact crater, May said. However, an instructor pilot flying near the crashed jet didn't see an open parachute when it went down.
The site east of Parker in the Buckskin Mountains is reachable only by helicopter.
"All levels are still out there doing an intensive search," May added.
The pilot, whose name is yet to be released, was on an air-to-air student training mission when the crash occurred around noon. There were no weapons on board.
A board of officers has been convened to investigate the accident. |

Sad to hear.
I hope that this report is wrong and he was still in his suit. Would be a shame if he was able to get out of his harness and suit and rescuers not make to him in time. |

Wow, what a MAJOR bummer.
And the liberals say stuff like too much money is wasted on training flights. Training is way too important to help keep our pilots alive! |
