Hi Guys,
My first post here. I am new member to F-16.net and was referred to this site by a friend of mine who suggested I should share my F-16 stories here. I was fortunate enough to catch a dogfight between 2 vipers (PAF trained by USAF) & 4 mig-23s (USSR / ADR) where I saw one destroyed by AIM-9L or P maybe? It was some 20 years ago in 88 & I was very young back then. The 2 missiles fired were so fast I thought for 15 years they were tracers but then later after web developed I found out no indeed they were missiles.
I am very happy to find this site... I will write about this soon in detail
So I was reading interesting insights and posts as a viper lover when I thought of asking you a question.
I visited Vegas a while back for short duration and one of my favorite activitiy was to go to Nellis and watch F-16s & F-15s take off. Sadly I went there on 3 different days at different times but there wasn't even a bird flying... let alone Vipers or Eagles
I will be visiting Vegas hopefully soon around April time. I would like to know what is generally the best time to watch them take off or land?
I have tried asking locals but it does not help most of them does not keep track of these sort of things.
Also when is a best time to spot an aggressor painted F-16 from 64th or F-15 from 65th?
Please let me know if you know. I am sure there are people here who work at Nellis or have worked recently. It would be just great if I can see some Eagles and Vipers there.
regards

Hi Ff19a
Welcome to the site and we look forward to hearing your stories about the F-16.
You enjoy watching military aircraft purely for enjoyment.
Most people who visit this site are retired/active military and prefere not to answer the questions about how and when best to view aircraft outside the gates at military bases. Besides, most won't know. I would suggest two other avenues to best answer your Nellis question.
1) Scramble (http://www.scramble.nl/index.html)
2) Fencecheck.com (http://www.fencecheck.com)
These sites will be able to assist the most.
Good luck,
Jonathan |

Try out http://www.nellis.af.mil/ - contact the public affairs office and ask them. Worst thing they will do is say no |

Hi Guys,
Thank you for your links. I will try to contact nellis website. Hopefully, I will get a chance to see them on my upcoming visit.
Um... one question though. If I want to post my stories which forum they should go under? General or some else?
Moreover, has there been a thread where people have discussed their "F-16s in action" stories perivously? If not, I wil start a new thread.
regards

Hi yf19,
Yeah, I think you should post them under General ! This just covers basically everything, so stories will be a part of it . Keep me posted, would love to read them.

There is already topics on the "Viper in Action" - check out this link;
<a href="f-16_forum_viewtopic-t-4647.html">Operation Iraqi Freedom (F-16 Combat History)</a>
<a href="f-16_forum_viewtopic-t-4207.html">Balad Air Base Deployment Update</a>
As for what forum to post under, check them all out - you will all soon get the hang of what to post where. Actually, this way is easier than explaining in words |
