"Knights of the Sky - The Black Knights".

The video shows the Republic of Singapore Airforce Black Knights' precision flying skills and the technological superiority of their flying machine.

The pilots and crew were also interviewed. Most of the ground crew are conscripts serving their 2-year National Service term.

http://www.mindef.gov.sg/imindef/resour ... 8/feb.html

They performed at the recent Singapore Aerospace 2008 in 6 F-16C jets.

ENJOY!

Can anyone confirm if the F-16s used are Block 52?

Yeah, they are all Block 52. RSAF operates only Block 52 F-16C and F-16D and D+ (same config as F-16I)

Thanks RSAF-G2. My guess at the tail numbers is that they are ex Cannon AFB based aircraft? Can you confirm please?

Regards

I thought they were all "new production" aircraft. I don't think Cannon AFB has had PW powered Vipers for quite some time. The Block 52 Vipers at Cannon were owned by the RSAF. All the Cannon (USAF) jets were GE Block 30/40/50.

Quote:
On September 15, 1998, the 428th Fighter Squadron was reactivated at Cannon AFB. The PEACE CARVIN III squadron is a hybrid US Air Force/Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) F-16 Fighter Squadron manned by highly experienced USAF instructor pilots, maintenance and support personnel. The squadron should be fully equipped by March 2000 and will operate 12 RSAF-owned Block 52, F-16C/Ds. With approximately 25 USAF personnel and 140 RSAF personnel, the unit is responsible for continuation training of Singapore personnel in rapid deployment and tactical employment of the F-16 throughout a wide spectrum of missions including air-to-air, joint maritime and precision air-to-ground weapons delivery.

Didn't the 'CC' jets have PW engines? I'm not an expert on the blocks and engines but I think that is the case.

Waaay back with Block 10's perhaps...

EDIT: Embarassed Never mind they had F-111 back then, and transitioned directly into F-16C Block 30s.

EDIT: The only PW "CC" jets belonged to the RSAF.

Sorry, I meant that the RSAF jets were PW and not the USAF jets based at Cannon.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the Black Knights use 97-0114 through to 97-0119?

They're easy to spot.

The CC RSAF Block 52 (PW-229) aircraft all have black carbon-fiber nozzles, that are longer than the horizontal stabs.

The CC USAF (GE) Block30/40/50s all have metal nozzles that are shorter than the stabs.

Thanks for explaining that as it clears it up for me. Hopefully someone in singapore (RSAF-G2 perhaps?) can confirm which jets are used by the display team?

Honestly, no idea on the tail numbers, will need insider info for that...but we know that they were jets based in Tengah Airbase.

They painted all 6 birds completely...no trace of tail numbers from the paintjob.

Did you guys like the video?

Haha...sadly they are unlikely to perform in the State anytime soon, cause they ain't full-time demo pilots, but are regular Squadron pilots...so they've got duties to juggle...

I'm glad you guys enjoyed it, just thought of sharing with all in the F-16 community what's happening around the globe.

I bet if you make it to Singapore Airshow 2009, they will be there.
