First F-16 to arrive at Hill AFB, Utah. Wore a large colour crest on the right landing gear door.

Comments:
Engine turbine failed during a take-off roll sending pieces of the turbine blades through the fuel cell. Pilot aborted take off after seeing the fire light and shut down the engine. After the pilot opened the canopy and jumped out found the entire tail of the F-16 on fire. The aircraft was sent to depot but was never repaired.

Errors and Omissions

'Got the ID Plate out of the cockpit when we did the Save List at OO-ALC (in Hanger 295), back around 1993-94. When we got the go ahead for save list, 'Balls 2' was intact from F.S. 357.80 - forward; the aft fuselage had been removed earlier and sat nearby (still) with original fire damage. Hear tell 'Balls 2' was eventually shipped to some contractor for bird strike testing/evaluation of the cockpit frame itself...
