F-16s escort commercial flights

January 4, 2004 (by Lieven Dewitte) - Since the recent terror alert change to Code Orange last month, federal agencies have launched the most drastic security measures since 9/11. F-16 fighters provided Combat Air Patrol escorts to several international flights arriving at major U.S. cities.
Last week, British Airways Flight 223 from Heathrow to Washington's Dulles International Airport was escorted by U.S. F-16s to a remote edge of the Dulles tarmac, where the passengers were questioned and rescreened.

F-16 fighter jets have also shadowed some flights from Air France.
