According to a press release by the Eaton company, Lockheed Martin recently had an informal rollout of the F-16 block 60. The Block 60 configuration incorporates some of the most extensive changes in the history of the F-16 program.
The unique features include APG-80 multimode radar, infrared (FLIR) navigation and targeting, advanced glass cockpit, fiber-optic supported avionics, internal electronic countermeasures system and a higher thrust 32,000 pound-thrust-class F110-GE-132 engine.
The F-16 is one of the most successful military aircraft programs to date with more than 4,000 aircraft delivered to twenty-four countries around the world. Most recently the United Arab Emirates has ordered 80 block 60 F-16s to be delivered during 2004 and 2006.
